Murzuq

City file Murzuq

Murzuq municipality is divided into 13 localities. The medium-sized oasis city and capital of Murzuq District, Murzuq, is located near the El-Feel oil field. The area has significant groundwater resources that support agricultural activities and is primarily inhabited by the Tebu and Ahali Arab tribes. With the decline of violent conflict since late 2020, the path to recovery is a more promising one, including for Murzuq though marred by numerous challenges, including deep divisions and ongoing security concerns.
