Description:

This study evaluates the quality of groundwater in the settlement agricultural project in Ubari, Libya, focusing on its suitability for drinking and irrigation. Eleven groundwater samples were analyzed for chemical and physical parameters, including calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, and more. The results reveal that most groundwater samples are suitable for irrigation and classified as good to excellent for drinking. Analytical models such as Kelly’s Ratio, Sodium Adsorption Ratio, and Synthetic Pollution Index indicate moderate salinity and low sodium hazards. However, some samples were identified as moderately polluted and require monitoring.
This research is crucial for the development of sustainable agricultural practices and water resource management in southern Libya, particularly in Ubari. The study provides actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders to ensure water quality for the region’s agricultural and domestic needs.
